Saw this app on another site (http://www.sofarsocheap.com/?p=5513). It provides free gps software for iPhone and iPad. The best part is that it doesn't use any data. All the maps (1.76GB) are preloaded onto your device. It seems like it has detailed US maps and some Canadian maps. I wonder if they will provide map updates.
